We have seen the rise of “phablets” during the last couple of years, after the launch of Samsung Galaxy Note. Contrary to the expectations and predictions, it proved to be a massive hit and not only that, it set an industry standard which others were almost compelled to follow. With the passage of time, tech giants like LG and HTC have also worked on their own “phablets”, although Samsung easily remains the king of this domain.
Between all the fanfare and limelight, Samsung has officially announced the third generation version of its famed Galaxy Note. The Galaxy Note 3 smartphone was announced by JK Shin, the Korean company’s President and CEO. Contrary to the previous plastic back, which was severely criticised by the tech critics, this time around Samsung has made Galaxy Note with faux-leather back which is certainly much better and would take care of all the criticism.
Several upgrades have been made in software and hardware of the new phone compared to the previous version. This phone comes pre-loaded with Knox which is a secure BYOD solution from Samsung. Besides, it also has support for ultra-fast LTE Category 4 technology. The technical specs of the device are certainly very impressive. It has a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, compared to 5.5 inches of the last version. Powered by 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800, it has a RAM memory of 3GB. Global shipment of the device, which would commence from September 35th, would have the option of two internal storages: 32GB and 64GB. The phone would be released for US and Japan in October.
The weight of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 happens to be 168 grams which is pretty reasonable. It will be available in three color options, one of which happens to be pink which seems a rather unusual option. There would be a 3,200mAh battery powering the device which seems more than sufficient for ordinary use.
Among the newly introduced software features, we have Air Command which increases the ease of navigation through apps and notifications. Then we have Pen Window which allows you to draw dimensions of onscreen apps. Another useful app is Action Memo that lets you scribble down various short memos related to various actions. Other S-Pen related apps include Scrapbook, S Finder, S Note and My Magazine. So there is a lot that we can look forward to on this amazing piece of gadget which will hit the market in a few days.
