Galaxy S3 has already become the most popular smart phone of the year

Samsung Galaxy S3 has surpassed all expectations when it comes to pre-orders. The device has crossed the highest pre-orders mark of iPhone 4S, which was at 4 million, and has touched the mark of 9 million. This is a huge difference and easily makes Galaxy S3 the most popular device in history before actual release. Analysts have also been predicting that Galaxy S3 would be the fastest growing gadget in history. With nine million pre-orders, after the phone would be released on 29th of May, it would instantly become the fastest selling smart phone of all time. Not only Apple’s iPhone 4S, it would also beat various other gadgets when it comes to popularity on the initial few days, including Apple iPad and Microsoft’s Xbox.

To keep up with this massive demand, Samsung has hired some 75,000 workers and the company is quite confident that it would meet all the pre-orders. At present, Samsung has been developing about 5 million phones per month, which is equivalent to 66 phones per worker per month. Carphone Warehouse, the major mobile phone retailer of the UK, has confirmed that Galaxy S3 has already become the most popular smart phone of the year and thousands of customers have pre-ordered this phone which would be released within a few days now. Graham Stapleton, the spokesman of Carphone Warehouse, said that the number of pre-orders has surpassed all the expectations that people had at the time Galaxy S3 was unveiled.

Previous version of the device, Galaxy S2, took about 6 months to sell 10 million phones and about 11 months to sell 20 million units. The immense popularity of this phone would also swell the number of Android users compared to those of Apple and Windows users. However, Microsoft has been earning sufficient in terms of patent agreements on Android phones so it does not really need to release its own smart phone. So far there are about 350 million Android users in the world and as per the predictions of the experts, the user base of Android can expand to as many as 1 billion users by the end of 2013. Apple and Samsung combined account for about 49.3 percent share of the smart phones worldwide, which is up from 29 percent at the start of 2011. Samsung Galaxy S3 is the clearly the closest rival of iPhone and would certainly give a tough time to iPhone 5, expected to be launched during the fall of this year.
