Samsung ATIV Tab 3, a ultra-slim and lightweight Windows 8 tablet is now available

Finally the much awaited light-weight Windows 8 tablet from Samsung, Ativ Tab 3, has gone official. The recent official announcement from Samsung unveiled the technical specs and price of the device. According to this announcement, the ultra-slim and lightweight tablet is powered by Intel Atom chip. Samsung Ativ Tab 3, which is being called the thinnest tablet in the world, showcases some pretty interesting specifications.
Supporting 3G and 4G LTE connectivity, Samsung Ativ 3 would also feature Samsung S Pen for sketching and taking notes.

It was only reasonable for Samsung to include this feature on its tab after its huge success on Samsung Note devices. The feature could be used in conjunction with S Note 2.0 app. The display size of the tablet is 10.1 inch with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Besides, the pixel density of the display would be 155ppi, which is good, although not as good as the Retina Display of iPad or Nexus 10. The tablet would be powered by Intel Atom Z2760 processor working in conjunction with 2 GB of RAM memory. The internal storage capacity would be 64GB. At the metallic top edge of the device, there is also microSD card slot which would allow you to further expand the memory. Other than that, the SIM slot, volume rocker and power/lock button are also located at the top of the device. We also have a backend as well as a frontend camera.

The physical structure of Samsung Ativ 3 is quite similar to Samsung Galaxy Tab and from some distance it is hard to distinguish between the two. The only physical difference is the decrease in thickness and thus weight. Ativ 3 is only 8.2 mm thick and weighs 550 grams. The tablet would come without any keyboard and users could purchase a separate keyboard, if needed, at a price of $100. Extras also include various software features such as Microsoft Office Home and Student free.

The full-features Windows 8 tablet is certainly a worthwhile addition to Samsung’s line of tablets. Windows 8 tablet would allow users to run all the legacy desktop apps. Without the keyboard cover, the price of the tablet is set to be $599 and with the keyboard included, the price would go up to $699. There was a lot of anticipation for this device and now that it is  launched, let’s wait and see how it performs in the market.
