So far there have been disputations about the name of the upcoming Galaxy Phone since Samsung has not officially called it Galaxy S3. In the invitations that were given out regarding the event, it was mentioned that new Galaxy phone would be unveiled. However, there are certain hints that point out to the possibility that the device would actually be called by this name. Among these is a recent unpacked app from Samsung that names this phone as Galaxy S3. The app would be launched along with the phone during the Samsung Unpacked Event at London on May 3. There have been certain previous hints as well regarding the name of this phone, calling it Galaxy S3. A prototype of the phone was leaked over the Internet a few days ago which also named it Galaxy S3. However, the hardware that was seen in that video was dated December 2011 which could mean that the name of the device might not have been finalized. Many of the recent speculations suggested that Samsung would go for a different name and would simply call it by the name of New Galaxy, following the convention of Apple.
This recent appearance of the name Galaxy S3, however, is a bit different from the official nomenclature of the previous device, which was called Galaxy SII, instead of Galaxy S2. However, many carries used Galaxy SII and Galaxy S2 interchangeably. The new unpacked app that gives hint about name also fails to run on Ice Cream Sandwich. It does start but after starting, it simply shows a black screen and after that it crashes. So we are neither sure what the name is and what this app is all about. To know both these things for sure, we would have to wait till May 3 when Samsung would officially launch both these things.
Galaxy S3, if that is what it would be called, it already being considered the closest rival of the upcoming Apple iPhone 5. The previous model of the device, Galaxy SII, proved to be the most popular Android device with amazing technical specs. Users are certainly excited this time as well since Galaxy S3 is expected to showcase some of the very best specs in the market. These specs might include a giant 1.4 GHz quad core processor, 12 mega pixel rare end camera as well as changed physical structure.
