After much anticipation and fanfare, Samsung has finally announced Galaxy S 4 Active, its upcoming high-end smartphone. The phone would be released during Samsung’s UK launch event on July 1st. Galaxy S 4 Active would be dust and water-resistant and would be running Android 4.2.2 as its OS. The operating system would work in conjunction with Samsung’s Touch-Wiz Nature UX. The device would have the ability to survive below three feet of water for over 30 minutes. This qualified protection would allow users to enjoy its use during beach parties and dusty hiking adventures.

Galaxy S4 Active would contain a TFT LCD 5 inch 1080p display. Powered by a massive 1.9 GHz quad-core processor, Galaxy S4 Active would have an 8-megapixel backend camera in addition to a 2-megapixel frontend shooter. The camera interface has been significantly improved with the addition of new features such as “Drama Shot” allowing users to capture action in a single continuous time-lapse sequence. Other new and noteworthy features include ‘Sound & Shot’ that allows capturing sound with image and ‘Story Album’ using which users can instantly create photo album of a specific event.

Galaxy S4 Active would come with 16 GB of internal storage capacity and besides, support for microSD card would also be available. Samsung might also release versions of the device with additional storage options. Finally, a powerful 2,600mAh battery would fulfill the power requirements of the device.

Other than the usual technical specifications, which place this device on par with some of the finest devices in the market, there would also be some quite unique features that users would enjoy on Galaxy S4 Active. For instance, we would have Samsung “glove touch” screen tech on this device, which means that the display would also respond to touch when you would have your gloves on. For underwater shots, users would be able to benefit from the ‘aqua mode’ setting. Besides, the device would also showcase a water-resistant headphone socket.

Announcement about Galaxy S4 Active was made during the 5 June press release of Samsung in Seoul, South Korea. As per the initial plan, it would be available in three colors options of Urban Grey, Dive Blue and Orange Flare. So far there is no information regarding the price and exact release date but everything would be clear during the Samsung Premiere 2013 GALAXY & ATIV event in London on June 20th.
