Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini

After the immense success of Samsung Galaxy S3, rumor has it that the company is considering launching a mini version of the popular device with the name of Galaxy S3 Mini. Expectations are that Samsung would launch this device within a few months, although it seems that a somewhat similar device has already been launched in India.

The phone has been launched in India with the name of Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7562 Pure White with toned down hardware specs, and it seems pretty much like a smaller version of Galaxy S3. A distinguishing feature of this mini version is that it comes with dual SIM capabilities, which means that users would be able to use two different SIMs belonging to two different carriers in the handset at the same time. Other important technical specs of the device include 1.5 GHz processor, 4 inch TFT capacitive touch screen with a screen resolution of 480×800 pixels, 5 mega pixel back end camera and a 0.3 mega pixel front end camera and FM radio. The phone would come with 4 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32 GB with the help of the microSD card.

The operating system for this phone at present happens to be Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich while the chances of Jelly Bean update are also there. At a price of $350, equivalent to 17,900 INR, this seems to be a very reasonable offer. The phone is being highly appreciated by the customers who like the Galaxy S3 looks in a compact body. At present, Samsung is the number 1 seller of the dual-SIM phones in India, followed by Nokia. Samsung is also all set to launch the second generation version of its famed Galaxy Note next month in India.

While any official version of Galaxy S3 Mini has not been launched as yet, Samsung S Duos can be a pretty good sample to estimate the possible structure and specs of any such device in future. It is possible that the technical specs are upgraded to some extent, particularly the processor and the cameras, but there would hardly be any chance in the looks and overall physical structure of the device.
